Fear Free aka Low Stress Handling

INTRODUCTION

This workshop will help you understand stress, anxiety and fear in your dog. We will focus on body language, stress levels and the steps you can take to help your dog experience stressful situations in a less stressful way.

INTRODUCTION:

Without pets. Introduction to low stress body handling for at home care: teeth brushing, hair brushing, nail clipping, giving medication.

  • Body language information (what is your dog saying)

  • How to start helping your dog experience less stress

  • Videos

  • Training Plans

  • Medication for anxiety, stress and fear

2 hour workshop: 15 minute break

Hands-On-Practice

Low Stress Body Handling to the next level. Practice practical body handling techniques with your dog or observe to learn from others. We will have 6 working spots available. 

Prerequisite: Introduction Workshop

Positions we will cover:

  • Restraint (hug)

  • Chin Rest

  • Brushing

  • Toothbrushing

  • Nail Clipping

  • Clipper Prep

  • Medication intake

 

Working spots available to dogs that are not reactive to other dogs. ​

Veterinary Visit Prep

Prepare your dog for his/her next visit to the Vet.

Prerequisite: Introduction Workshop

Positions we will cover:

  • Stand - Stay Station

  • Chin Rest

  • Checking teeth

  • Checking ears

  • Lateral Recumbency Station on floor

  • Vaccination and body temperature

  • Station for Jugular Blood Draw

  • Rear/Front Limb Blood Draw

  • Medication intake
